Juventus has confirmed Luciano Spalletti as their new manager until the end of the season. The 66-year-old replaces Igor Tudor, who was dismissed after Sunday’s Serie A defeat to Lazio.
Tudor had taken charge in March, replacing Thiago Motta, but departed after seven months following an eight-game winless streak. Club officials acted swiftly to appoint Spalletti, hoping his experience can revive their struggling campaign.
Spalletti’s return to club football marks another chapter in his long managerial career. He previously guided Napoli to the 2022–23 Serie A title before becoming Italy’s head coach.
Spalletti Brings Proven Success and Experience
Spalletti has a record of transforming teams into contenders. He led Napoli to their first league crown in over three decades, then helped Italy qualify for Euro 2024. Under his leadership, the Azzurri reached the round of 16 before losing to Switzerland.
However, his tenure with the national team ended abruptly after a World Cup qualifying defeat to Norway in June, which left Italy in danger of missing a third straight World Cup. The Italian Football Federation dismissed him shortly after.
Over his career, Spalletti has managed top clubs including Inter Milan, Roma, and Udinese. He also won two Russian Premier League titles with Zenit St. Petersburg. Juventus executives believe his tactical expertise and motivational approach will stabilise the squad.
Juventus Seeks Revival After Struggles
Interim coach Massimo Brambilla oversaw Juventus’ 3-1 victory over Udinese on Wednesday, lifting the club to seventh in Serie A. The win brought temporary relief but left the team six points behind league leaders Napoli after nine matches.
Juventus also faces challenges in Europe. They sit 25th in the Champions League league phase, having recorded one loss and two draws in their first three fixtures.
Spalletti’s appointment signals Juventus’ intent to rescue their season and rebuild confidence both domestically and in Europe. Club sources say he will take immediate charge of training, with his debut expected this weekend.
The experienced coach now faces the task of restoring Juventus’ competitive edge — and reigniting belief among fans who demand nothing less than success.
