Tottenham defender Destiny Udogie has been named as the Premier League player allegedly threatened at gunpoint by an agent in north London.
The incident reportedly occurred late on 6 September in Cockfosters Parade, Barnet, while Udogie was out with a friend. Police said the suspect brandished a weapon “with intent to cause fear of violence” and also allegedly blackmailed and threatened Udogie’s companion.
A 31-year-old man was arrested two days later on suspicion of firearm possession with intent, blackmail, and driving without a licence. He has since been bailed pending further inquiries.
Udogie, who was not on Italy duty during the September international break, returned to action for Spurs a week later and started in their Champions League match against FC Copenhagen on Tuesday.
A Tottenham spokesperson said the club has been “providing support for Destiny and his family since the incident” but declined to comment further due to the ongoing police investigation.
