Five-Year Contract Secures Star Winger
Arsenal winger Bukayo Saka has signed a new five-year contract, keeping him at the club until 2031. Sources tell BBC Sport that Saka will become the Gunners’ highest-paid player, earning over £300,000 per week. Negotiations have been ongoing for nearly a year, with Saka verbally agreeing to stay in January.
The 24-year-old had previously signed a deal set to run until 2027, but this extension ensures he will spend his peak years at Arsenal, providing a major boost as the club competes on four fronts for silverware this season.
A Pillar of Arsenal’s Squad
Saka has been a key figure for Arsenal since his first-team debut in 2018 at the age of 17. Having progressed through the club’s academy, he has made 217 Premier League appearances, scoring 57 goals. This season alone, he has netted seven times in 33 appearances.
The new deal follows a pattern of Arsenal securing their core players, including William Saliba, Gabriel Magalhaes, Ethan Nwaneri, and Myles Lewis-Skelly, with long-term contracts to maintain a title-contending squad. Saka is now 116 Premier League appearances behind Ray Parlour’s club record of 333, highlighting his potential to set new milestones.
International Impact and Upcoming Challenges
On the international stage, Saka has scored 14 goals in 48 appearances for England and is expected to feature in Thomas Tuchel’s squad for the World Cup starting in June.
Arsenal currently sit four points clear at the top of the Premier League and will face Manchester City in the EFL Cup final in March. They have also advanced to the Champions League knockout stages and the fifth round of the FA Cup, meaning Saka will play a central role in a crucial stretch for the club.
