Barcelona’s star striker Robert Lewandowski may miss the clash with Real Madrid later this month. The 37-year-old suffered a hamstring injury and faces a race against time to recover for El Clasico.

    Injury sidelines the Polish striker

Lewandowski scored for Poland in a 2-0 World Cup qualifying win over Lithuania on Sunday. However, he will not play in Barcelona’s upcoming La Liga match against Girona this weekend. The injury also raises doubts about his participation in the Champions League game against Olympiakos next Tuesday.

Barcelona will then face Real Madrid at the Bernabeu on 26 October in one of the season’s most anticipated matches.

Club remains cautious about recovery time

Barcelona have not confirmed how long Lewandowski will be out. Spanish media, however, suggest he could miss around four weeks. “Robert Lewandowski has suffered a hamstring injury in his left thigh. He will be sidelined, and his recovery time will depend on how the injury progresses,” the club said in a statement.

A growing injury list for Barcelona

The striker has scored four goals in nine appearances for the reigning Spanish champions this season. His absence adds to Barcelona’s growing list of injuries, with Raphinha, Gavi, Dani Olmo, Marc-Andre ter Stegen, and Joan Garcia also unavailable.

    Some good news for Xavi

Despite the setbacks, forwards Lamine Yamal and Fermin Lopez have returned to training. Their comeback offers coach Xavi a small boost as Barcelona navigate a crucial stretch in their campaign.
