Juventus have dismissed head coach Igor Tudor following an eight-match winless run across all competitions, the club confirmed on Monday.
“Juventus FC announces that it has today relieved Igor Tudor of his duties as coach of the men’s first team, along with his staff,” read a club statement, issued a day after their 1-0 defeat to Lazio. Reserve team boss Massimo Brambilla will take temporary charge.
Tudor, who replaced Thiago Motta in March, was Juventus’s first foreign manager since Didier Deschamps in 2006–07. A former Juve defender, he spent nearly a decade at the club as a player, winning two Serie A titles and reaching a Champions League final.
Despite guiding Juventus to a fourth-place finish last season and securing Champions League qualification, Tudor’s side have failed to score in four straight games and dropped to eighth in Serie A, six points behind leaders Napoli.
After Sunday’s loss, Tudor admitted his team were struggling for confidence: “We prepared well, but we’re still missing something. There’s no need to dramatise — we’re all responsible for this period.”
This marks the earliest managerial change Juventus have made in a season since 1969, when Luis Carniglia was replaced by Ercole Rabitti. Juve next face Udinese on Wednesday.
