Brazil Falters as Japan Looks Ahead to World Cup
Ancelotti, who took charge of Brazil in May, had already guided his team to World Cup qualification with four points from two matches. His side had thrashed South Korea 5-0 in a friendly on Friday but failed to preserve their lead against Japan.
The Brazil lineup featured several Premier League stars, including Guimaraes, Martinelli, Paqueta, and Manchester United’s Casemiro.
Chelsea’s Estevao, United’s Matheus Cunha, Newcastle’s Joelinton, and Tottenham striker Richarlison entered during the second half.
Japan, already qualified for the 2026 World Cup, fielded Crystal Palace midfielder Daichi Kamada from the start, while Leeds United’s Ao Tanaka came on as a second-half substitute.
