Craig Bellamy says he feels a “special moment” is on the horizon for Wales as they prepare for a crucial World Cup qualifier against Belgium in Cardiff on Monday.
After Belgium’s draw with North Macedonia, a win would keep Wales’ hopes of automatic qualification alive. The team is looking to bounce back from a 3-0 friendly loss to England, which captain Ben Davies – set to win his 100th cap – called a “wake-up call”.
“I always believe there’s a special moment coming,” said Bellamy. “Positivity is everything – body language, mindset, how you carry yourself. I’ve been on the other side before, and I know which side I want to be on now.”
Bellamy said Wales can draw confidence from previous big nights in Cardiff. “The players and the fans know these moments. When we’ve qualified before, it’s been here,” he said.
Reflecting on the England defeat, Bellamy admitted it only deepened his drive to improve. “We didn’t press, we sat too deep – top teams punish that,” he said. “But looking back, it gave me belief this team can go much further. That’s exciting.”
