Alexander-Arnold could face former club Liverpool in Champions League clash

Trent Alexander-Arnold’s recovery is on track, raising hopes he may face his former club Liverpool in November’s Champions League tie. The Real Madrid right-back is progressing well after his hamstring injury and could return in time for the group-stage encounter.

    Injury setback against Marseille

The England international, 27, injured his hamstring during the match against Marseille on 16 September. He left the pitch after just five minutes. Early reports suggested he could be out for up to six weeks, putting his participation in doubt for the Liverpool match.

Real Madrid will visit Anfield on 4 November, exactly seven weeks after the injury. That timing gives Alexander-Arnold a realistic chance to be fit for a comeback.

    Recovery going according to plan

Sources close to the club say the defender’s rehabilitation is progressing positively. Real’s medical team remains optimistic he could feature against Liverpool if he continues to improve. The match would mark Alexander-Arnold’s first return to Anfield since joining the Spanish side in June.

Emotional link to his former club

A lifelong Liverpool supporter, Alexander-Arnold described leaving the club he joined at age six as the hardest decision of his career. During his time with the Reds, he made 354 appearances and lifted two Premier League titles, a Champions League trophy and an FA Cup.

    New start in Madrid

Since his move to Real Madrid, Alexander-Arnold has played five matches across all competitions. So far, he has clocked a total of 156 minutes on the pitch as he adapts to life in Spain.

If his recovery continues as planned, fans could witness an emotional reunion at Anfield — this time with Alexander-Arnold wearing the white of Real Madrid.
