Ipswich Town boss says he has had “no conversations” over Parkhead vacancy.
Ipswich Town manager Kieran McKenna has moved to end speculation linking him with the vacant Celtic job, insisting he has not spoken to the Scottish club. Addressing reporters ahead of Ipswich’s next match, McKenna said there had been “no conversations” with Celtic and that his full focus remains on his work in Suffolk. The 39-year-old has been widely mentioned as a contender to replace Brendan Rodgers, who left his post earlier this month.
Focus Firmly on Ipswich
McKenna stressed that he is completely committed to Ipswich’s campaign and is not entertaining thoughts of a move. “My concentration is here, with this group of players and staff,” he said, adding that speculation is simply part of football. The Northern Irishman has earned plaudits for guiding Ipswich’s rise through the divisions and maintaining their competitive form in the Premier League.
Celtic Continue Manager Search
Celtic are currently led by interim manager Martin O’Neill following Rodgers’ departure, but the club is expected to make a permanent appointment in the coming weeks. Alongside McKenna, several other names have been linked to the position, though no formal approaches have been confirmed. McKenna’s remarks suggest that, for now, his attention remains firmly on Ipswich’s ambitions rather than a move north of the border.
