Fabio Paratici Returns to Tottenham as Sporting Director After 30-Month FIFA Ban

Ban Originated from Juventus Accounting Case
Fabio Paratici has officially returned to Tottenham Hotspur as Sporting Director after serving a 30-month suspension imposed for financial irregularities during his time at Juventus. The Italian executive’s ban, originally handed down by the Italian Football Federation (FIGC) in January 2023 and later extended worldwide by FIFA, concluded earlier this year. Tottenham confirmed his re-appointment on 15 October 2025, stating that Paratici will share responsibilities with Johan Lange in overseeing the club’s football operations.

    Resignation and Suspension Timeline
Paratici joined Tottenham in 2021 and worked closely with then-managers Nuno Espírito Santo and Antonio Conte before resigning in April 2023, shortly after his appeal against the FIGC sanction was rejected. The 30-month suspension barred him from all football activities worldwide, forcing him to step away from the club. FIFA’s enforcement of the ban aligned with Italy’s ruling in the high-profile “plusvalenze” investigation, which found that Juventus officials had artificially inflated player transfer values in their financial statements.

    Return and Reaction at Tottenham
Tottenham described Paratici’s return as part of a broader restructuring of its sporting department. The club said he would focus on long-term squad planning and recruitment, working in partnership with Lange and head coach Ange Postecoglou. While the move marks a significant comeback for the 52-year-old executive, it also reignites debate about governance standards in football following financial misconduct cases in Italy. Spurs have not disclosed contract details, but insiders suggest Paratici’s reinstatement reflects confidence that his suspension has been fully served and cleared by governing bodies.
