Early Goals Set the Tone
Newcastle United launched their Carabao Cup defense in style with a 4-1 victory over Bradford City at St James’ Park. Joelinton opened the scoring in the 17th minute, and Will Osula doubled the lead almost immediately, putting the home side in complete control before the half-hour mark.
Second-Half Dominance
After the break, Joelinton struck again in the 75th minute to extend the advantage. Bradford’s Andy Cook produced a superb volley to reduce the deficit four minutes later, but any hopes of a comeback were short-lived. Osula added his second late in the game to restore Newcastle’s three-goal cushion.
Newcastle March Into Fourth Round
The win secures Newcastle’s place in the fourth round of the competition as they look to defend the trophy. The result also eases pressure on Eddie Howe’s side, who have struggled for form in league play but showed their attacking strength against lower-league opposition.
