    Emotional tribute before kick-off

Cristiano Ronaldo scored twice as Portugal celebrated a 5-0 victory over Armenia in their first match since Diogo Jota’s death. Fans observed a minute of silence at the Vazgen Sargsyan Republican Stadium in memory of Liverpool’s forward and his brother Andre Silva, who both died in a car crash in July. The atmosphere was heavy with emotion, but Portugal used the match to honor their fallen teammate.

    Ronaldo marks the occasion

Joao Felix opened the scoring in the 10th minute of the World Cup qualifier. Ronaldo, 40, added the second goal in the 21st minute, mirroring the number Jota wore for Portugal. Left-back Nuno Tavares said, “We’re all very happy because it shows he is with us, that he was there, and that moment, Ronaldo’s goal, was made possible.” He added, “He’ll always be with us, as was clear today.”

    Portugal dominate the field

Joao Cancelo increased the lead to 3-0 before Ronaldo completed his brace with a spectacular long-range strike, raising his international tally to 140 goals. Felix added his second goal just after the hour mark to complete the emphatic win. Portugal played with intensity and respect, turning grief into a heartfelt celebration of their teammate’s life.
