Declan Rice Header Secures Comfortable Win as England Maintain Perfect Record

England continued their unbeaten start to World Cup qualifying with a routine 2-0 victory over Andorra at Villa Park, keeping their Group K record spotless under Thomas Tuchel. The win, following a similarly straightforward victory in June, did little to excite the crowd but maintained England’s momentum heading into a crucial trip to Serbia.

Noni Madueke forced an early own goal from Andorra defender Christian García midway through the first half. Declan Rice doubled the advantage in the second half, heading in a cross from Reece James to seal the victory. The match statistics reflected England’s dominance, with Andorra registering just four touches inside their penalty area.

Tuchel fielded his strongest available lineup, giving Elliot Anderson his debut at No. 6 alongside Rice in a midfield two, while Guéhi and Burn were deployed at centre-back. England operated in a fluid 4-3-3, with Eberechi Eze and Madueke providing the main attacking impetus in the absence of injured stars like Bukayo Saka.

Despite the low stakes and predictable opposition, England showed moments of creativity after the break, with Eze and Rashford coming close before Rice’s decisive header. The win extends England’s clean sheet streak to four games in qualifying and sets the stage for a testing encounter against Serbia in Belgrade.
