Nuno Espirito Santo’s position at Nottingham Forest remains unclear after tensions with owner Evangelos Marinakis escalated.
The club struggles to clarify leadership amid disputes, leaving fans and staff unsure of the manager’s future.
Marinakis Adjusts Control to Follow UEFA Rules
In April, Marinakis temporarily removed himself as a “person of significant control” to comply with UEFA multi-club ownership regulations.
He also owns Olympiakos, which qualified for the Champions League, preventing dual club ownership from violating competition rules.
Authorities recorded the change at Companies House, the UK’s corporate registry, while Marinakis retained overall ownership in practice.
UEFA Compliance and Return to Control
If Forest failed to reach the Champions League, Marinakis could regain official control.
Forest finished seventh, qualifying for the UEFA Conference League, while Olympiakos secured Champions League participation, allowing Marinakis to resume ownership legally.
In June, Companies House confirmed Marinakis as a “person of significant control,” holding at least 75% of the club shares.
